Ellen and Sylvan's Wedding, Dec 1958

Ellen was married to Sylvan B. Cunningham on December 17, 1958 in Silver Spring, MD.  At that time her sister Myrtie had already died.   She was 33 and Sylvan was 39.  He had previously been in the Army.  Sylvan was from West Virginia.  They divorced in 1968 with no children.  She never spoke of him that I remember, but she always remained a Cunningham.












The gentleman the left looks like a Hirst uncle but I'm unsure of who he is.  Willis Hirst was already dead by this time.  I don't know who the woman is but she's clearly a part of the wedding party.  Possibly one of Sylvan's sisters? My other thought is that Ellen was very close to May Hirst so maybe her?  Or possibly Ruth, Elton Miles' wife?  And the child???


This seems to be a picture of Ellen's family with the married couple.  Right to left, Grace, Ellen, Sylvan, and the same woman... possibly Ruth.  Child in the front (Sandy or Patty??) possibly one of Elton and Ruth's daughters?

This is the only one that has writing on it.  "Cynthia Jennell and Bernice Jennell and Mr. Jennell"
I did a search and found Cynthia Lovenor Jennell was born in Honolulu HI.  She was 21 in 1966, which makes her 13 in this picture.  She was a time keeper at a metal fabrication business in Orange Va, and married Edward Gordon Songer, 19, on Oct 29, 1966.  Her mother's maiden name was Bernice Chun, and her father's full name was James Russell Jennell.

I love the envelope.  This is where she was working as a public health nurse apparently at the time when she printed these photos.  I currently live in Prince William County. :)
